if i were to redraw any of my old pieces from 2022, which one would you want to see me redraw the most?

i’ve been thinking of redrawing something from when i first joined newgrounds/got into drawing humans bc i want to see how far i’ve come, and plus it might be a nice ego boost lmao

hi So i already posted these on my art thread, so if you’re interested in bonus stuff like this, maybe check that out :D i’m still happy with these so i thought i’d put them here as filler

anyway, quick rant about insecurity when it comes to art:

it seems like i go through phases where i’m happy with my art and it’s like a safe space for me, and then i realize how incapable i actually am and i start convincing myself i’m not good enough. or i have an itch to draw but the Tiny Little Guy In My Brain tells me i shouldn’t bother bc it’ll just turn out awful and it’ll be a waste of my time. or i make something i’m not happy with and i wonder how many people would unfollow me if they found out i made it (i’m surprised that’s as much of a problem as it is for me bc usually i try not to bother with the “social media” aspect of this and i just do it for fun). don’t get me wrong, i love people interacting with my art and giving feedback, it actually gives me motivation to keep going. but it can also go the other way around and it unintentionally pressures me to make something perfect even tho i know that’s not possible

that’s something i struggle with a lot, the pressure to make something perfect. ive noticed that for the past few months, i’ve been going through sudden phases where i’m super self-critical about my own art and others’ art, and then a week later i’m all good again. like, for a few days straight i’ll be like “oh my god, this turned out awful. so-and-so would have done this so much better. at this rate you’re never going to get better” and then a week later i’ll be fine. is this part of improvement? is this healthy? no clue lmao but i’m trying

i’m currently in one of those phases rn and it sucks, but every other time this has happened, I’ve pulled through, so i’m trying to stay optimistic ;; over the past few months I’ve become more of a pessimist tho so hopefully getting all this off my chest will help. if anybody else is going through something similar, you aren’t alone and i’m rooting for you!!

OK SO. two characters from two different pieces of media that i really like (aubrey from omori and sylvester from epithet erased) happen to have the same canonical birthday (may 23rd). i knew i wanted to draw one of them for the occasion, but i didn’t know who. so i chose both :D

the thing is, i eventually found out that ANOTHER character’s (nikku from hotline 024/sunset hills) canonical birthday is the day after theirs (may 24th) so i was even more confused bc i wasn’t sure if i could make 3 separate art pieces in such a short time. this should not have been a big deal but in my fandom-obsessed heart It Was

so i tried anyway and apparently i can??? probably???? actually as of posting this i haven’t finished nikku yet but I’ve finished sylvester and aubrey

i’m not gonna post them all on the same day so here’s the “schedule” for this:

also off-topic but i’ve been drawing for the past few days, and i like how the drawings turn out but they look very slightly Off and it scares me away from trying to finish it and it’s Driving Me Insane

edit 5/2/2023: it’s been doing better lately, but my device is still extremely old and i’m still planning for a new one. i’m not gonna be completely inactive/on hiatus, but if i suddenly disappear or something, you know what happened

my device (which i use to draw) is very old, and it’s on its last legs. it completely shut off for hours this morning and i don’t know how long it’s going to last. because of that, i’ll be inactive until further notice, and i won’t be able to draw either until further notice

the good news is that me and my family are planning on getting a new one including an apple pencil, which will help tremendously with my art, so when i do come back, i’ll have a new tool to practice with :D

surprise uzi sketch that i wanted to post bc why not!!!! and bc i like how this turned out

a week or two ago, i got started fixating HARD on murder drones and i still haven’t quite stopped lmao. if you don’t know what murder drones is, it’s a 3d-animated show on youtube about two races of robots trying to mimic humans and living on a planet turned into a snowy wasteland after an explosion that killed all humans living there. there are the worker drones, who were first planted on copper 9 to help humans mine exoplanets for resources, but after the explosion occurred and worker drones started building their own colony on the planet, humans got scared of a possible robot uprising SO they created the disassembly drones, taller robots designed to kill the worker drones until none are left. the thing is, a purposeful flaw was programmed into the disassembly drones; if they go too long without drinking the oil (blood) of a worker drone, they’ll overheat and die (this way, disassembly drones cannot rebel without dying, once all of the worker drones are dead, the disassembly drones will slowly starve to death and nobody will have to worry about them rising up)

this character is the main character, uzi doorman, a rebellious teen with an emotionally neglectful father. she went through it in the most recent episode, poor girl needs Therapy D: i really recommend watching murder drones for yourself if you haven’t tho!!!! episode 4 just recently came out and it’s a Ride lmao

ANYWAY that was a paragraph lmao sorry. ive been having a ton of fun with art, and im really excited to make a finished piece with one of the murder drones characters (not sure who yet tho, most likely uzi)!!!!

real life has been getting in the way a bit tho,,, without going into too much detail, it’s been Really Scary lately but im trying my best. 👍 hope you guys are doing well tho!!!!

so, at the beginning of last year, my main art platform at the time went down in flames due to one of its creators being outed as a pedophile (gross oversimplification of the whole situation, but this news post isn’t focused on that website). 

i had previously heard of newgrounds due to my obsession with friday night funkin’, and exactly one year ago today, on march 25th 2022, i made the decision to move to newgrounds, and it was honestly the best decision i’ve ever made.

in 2022 (a very rough year for me), i grew tremendously as an artist and as a person, and it’s honestly all thanks to this website. i honestly don’t know where i would be if it weren’t for newgrounds. admittedly, i don’t really know many people on here (because i have the social skills and confidence of a rock), but i still have a lot of people to thank.

it’s been over a month since my last finished work so my style’s obviously changed since then, but i’m still curious to see what the most recognizable part of my art is

seriously tho, i’ve been spending the last few days getting into new stuff instead of actually trying to get myself to draw,,, although, to be fair, i’m on a short break from drawing bc i’m sick and i’m trying to recover from art block (yes thr art block hit again rip. i can’t find motivation to draw). and plus, now i have a bunch of new fandoms to make art about, so i’m not just drawing the same cookie run/fnf/omori characters all the time lmao

if anyone’s curious: i recently got into chainsaw man, team fortress 2, just shapes and beats, the owl house, epithet erased, and kinda arcane league of legends

although i already miss drawing. it feels weird not drawing, which sounds silly since i barely ever draw anything at this point. idk, i guess it feels more “solidified” since i’m on a break now?
